Welcome to Garsdale Design Limited

Garsdale Design Ltd is an architectural and planning consultancy which provides design skills and experience to clients for both local and international projects. Locally we cover Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and North West England. Our principals have over 30 year's professional experience since qualification and have both worked extensively in the UK and the countries of the Arabian Gulf. Currently we are working on architectural, masterplanning and urban design projects in Oman and Iraq.

We provide an independent professional service covering all aspects of local planning and development. Our service is personal and based on satisfying a client's needs. As designers we seek to bring imagination and understanding to a project, no matter how large or small. Through sound design and planning we aim to give a client not only 'value for money', but also enhanced quality of life through the best use of space and materials.

Conservation Area Appraisals for Sedbergh and Dent

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has published for consultation a draft Conservation Area Appraisal for Sedbergh and Dent. Comments are required by the 8th of March.

Other conservation area appraisals are also known to be in progress so there may well be more consultations in the near future.

Proposed Sainsbury's in Carlisle onto fourth submission

A revision to the proposals for a new Sainsbury's at Caldewgate have been submitted delaying a decision until March. This seems to address some of the Local Planning Authority's concerns regarding the lack of an active frontage on previous schemes.

Sedbergh Book Town Buzz 2010

As we're a company based in Sedbergh, we occasionally want to make people aware of local events, like this one:

Sedbergh Book Town is gearing up to kick off the New Year with a weekend of book-related events and activities aimed at the whole family. Throughout the weekend of 12th, 13th & 14th of February the Book Town Buzz will present a selection of entertaining events and creative workshops that are designed to encourage children, young people and parents to read and write more within the family.

London's Glass Landmark

Renzo Piano's 'Shard of Glass' sits at the heart of what is now being called the London Bridge Quarter which includes a new bus station, rail station and the Thameslink rail viaduct. This is the largest urban regeneration scheme tackled in London since the war and remains ontrack to be completed in May 2012. Renzo Piano is a former partner of Richard Rogers and he won the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 1998. The Shard will be the tallest building in Europe.
